Greeting Friends

Today I am sharing with you a scrapbook single page layout I am doing for the Aussie Crafters February Snazzy Sketch.

Here is a copy of the sketch

I kept the shabby chic theme in my layout which to me is beige creams and pinks.  I had loads of fun creating this page and have never done this technique before, it finished up beautifully and I certainly plan to use it again - I wish I could credit someone for the brick idea but it was all me I so totally invented it!

So without any further delay I introduce to you my latest creation ....

If you would like to follow along you will need:
1 sheet 12 x 12 Dk Brown card stock
1 sheet 12 x 12 Beige Card stock
Pink (machine) handmade paper
Washi tape
flowers
Wording
Basic paper crafting tools.

I used a washi tape in a cream colour with an antique script on but you can use any washi tape you choose.  Starting in the top left corner tear off bits about 2cm in length and place them in as straight a line as possible, leaving a gap of about .5cm between each piece.  I used a washi tape that will contrast with the colour oage you are using so it really shows up.

On the next row I start a little in from the edge of the page so that that the brick effect starts to show.

When I got to the 3rd row I started skipping the middle ones so that I wouldnt waste washi tape that would end up being hidden behind the heart.

I don't have a big enough heart die that would have suited this sketch so I cut one on the Silhouette.  I am very sure my freehand would have been alot more shabby than Shabby chic .......  At this stage I could use the heart to measure the area that didn't need washi tape bricks.

For the font I took advantage of the extra space at the bottom of the page I cut the heart out from, and used the area to cut out the Letters for Je T' Aime.  I put this onto pink (machine) handmade paper and fluffed the edges.

After sticking down the heart I left the edges loose so that I could thread some raffia thru the lacey edge, on the side before sticking on the pink roses.  I also tied a bit of raffia into a loose knot at the top of the heart and put a couple of roses on top of the knot. I also added a photo of my amazing mother to the middle of the heart.

The finished page, the text didnt come out as vivid as I would have liked in the photo, it looks a bit lilac and washed - strangely it is the same colour as the heart.  Im a crafter - not a photographer ;)

Thanks for visiting and if you would like to try out this challenge by all means ...... if you are a resident in Australia - why not join the Aussie Crafters and submit your sketch to the challenge and stand the chance to win a prize.

Till next time - Keep it Crafty
